Applications for the New FDA Sugar Labeling Laws – Tree Top Inc.

With the FDA’s addition of added sugar to the nutrition facts label, product developers are faced with the daunting task of reducing added sugars in food products because of consumer demands for cleaner labels. Manufacturers are looking for ways to remove ingredients that consumers think are unhealthy and replace these with “whole-food” ingredients. Consumers recognize fruit ingredients as a nutritious food, and this presentation will share techniques that product developers can use fruit ingredients to achieve these goals. Jim Painter, PhD, RD, has studied consumer eating behavior issues for 38 years and will describe techniques for using natural sweeteners.
